Description of Program:
Blue Mountain Wilderness Program (BMWP) is an innovative combined residential youth program and charter school for adjudicated/at-risk youth. This fully integrated service incorporates academic classes with applied learning/career paths training in the context of an ecologically sustainable living community life. BMWP will provide services to an initial group of six students expanding to twelve after year one. The home and charter school is located in Camp Connell, Calaveras County. BMWP is the only program to offer an experiential and outdoor-based program in Northern California for this population. Unlike some wilderness-based programs that are principled on a boot camp style, our services will emulate a science or summer camp type of environment.

A residential youth program is a unique combination of services for a specific population of youth, operated under the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing. BMWP will place adjudicated/social service boys ages 13-17, for eighteen plus months.
